We are seeking an Autonomy State Estimation Engineer to design, implement, and optimize state estimation algorithms for onboard drone systems. This role involves close collaboration with hardware and software teams to ensure reliable performance across a variety of operational conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement state estimation algorithms, including sensor fusion for IMUs, GPS, cameras, and other onboard sensors.

  • Build real-time software to run estimation algorithms on embedded platforms.

  • Test, validate, and optimize estimation solutions in both simulated and real-world environments.

  • Troubleshoot and improve performance under challenging conditions, such as sensor noise or environmental disturbances.

  • Collaborate with autonomy, controls, and perception teams to integrate state estimation with navigation and flight systems.

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in state estimation and related fields.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3+ years developing state estimation algorithms for robotics, drones, or similar systems.

Skills

  • Expertise in sensor fusion techniques (e.g., Kalman filters, EKF, particle filters).

  • Strong proficiency in C++ or Python.

  • Experience with embedded systems or real-time platforms.

  • Knowledge of IMU, GPS, camera, and lidar sensors.

  • Solid foundation in linear algebra, probability, and optimization.

  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as Gazebo or Mujoco.
